Our Story

Cabra Alpina was started by a husband and wife team. He's Portuguese and she's Afrikaans from Scottish decent. They both call South Africa their home. They grew up in the Northern Drakensburg and the never ending mountainous pine forests of the Lowveld are where they feel the most comfortable.

They love the outdoors but also want to look good while enjoying nature. They loved the design of expedition equipment used by hikers, campers and mountaineers from the first half of the 20th century. It was simple, durable and functional while still having that timeless design that never goes out of style. The only problem was that gear like that was no longer available since the style of outdoor gear had modernised. Cabra Alpina was created to change that.
